The Most Popular Credit Card in Q1 This Year Is... "Hyundai Card Zero Edition 2"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] In the first quarter of this year, the popular credit card was selected as the 'Hyundai Card Zero Edition 2.' It is analyzed that the 'unconditional card,' which offers discounts and rewards without monthly spending requirements during the first quarter when newcomers and young professionals increase, gained popularity.


According to 'Card Gorilla,' the largest credit card specialist site in Korea, the most popular credit card in the first quarter of this year was the 'Hyundai Card Zero Edition 2 Discount Type' ranked first. This survey is based on an analysis of the number of credit card product views and application conversions on the Card Gorilla website from January 1 to March 26 this year.


The Hyundai Card Zero Edition 2 Discount Type offers a basic 0.7% discount on all usage amounts without monthly spending conditions, and up to 1.5% discount in essential living areas. It has no reward limit and a low annual fee of 10,000 KRW, which is also an advantage.


The second place was taken by the 'Shinhan Card Deep Dream.' Shinhan Card Deep Dream, which ranked first in credit card rankings last year, provides 0.7% points accumulation at domestic and overseas merchants without monthly spending and reward limit restrictions. In five real-life areas such as discount stores and convenience stores, 2.1% points, which is three times the basic accumulation, are accumulated, and up to 3.5% can be accumulated in one area most used among the five.


The third place was 'Shinhan Card Mr. Life,' which offers broad discounts in various living sectors including communication fees and utility bill discounts, gaining steady popularity among single-person households. Especially, the time discount service, which provides different discount benefits according to the time, is a distinctive feature.


The fourth place was 'KB Kookmin Dadam Card,' which offers all-around living discounts such as transportation, communication, and fuel, along with selectable service packs. The fifth place was 'Samsung Card TapTapO,' which allows customers to directly select benefits by industry to receive discount services.


The sixth place was 'KB Kookmin Tantan Dae-ro All Shopping Titanium Card,' which offers a fuel discount of up to 100 KRW per liter. The seventh place was 'Lotte Card Like It Fun+,' which provides up to 60% discounts at Starbucks and movie theaters and 5% discounts on delivery applications (apps). The eighth place was the unconditional discount card 'Woori Card DA@ Card Uijeongseok.' Following that, NH Nonghyup Card's 'NH All One Pie Card,' which offers significant discounts on online shopping, ranked ninth, and 'NH Nonghyup Card's All Right Flex (FLEX),' which offers up to 20% discounts in streaming and delivery app areas, ranked tenth.


Go Seung-hoon, CEO of Card Gorilla, explained, "Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, untact consumption has increased, and online shopping and simple payment benefits have been steadily loved." He added, "In the first quarter, the number of searches for cards focused on benefits for young professionals and single-person households increased noticeably." He continued, "As the number of people staying at home increases, the dominance of customized benefit cards specialized in streaming, delivery apps, and online shopping is expected to continue."
