[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The police have launched an internal investigation into the 'fake news' that spread online regarding President Moon Jae-in's COVID-19 vaccination.

According to the National Police Agency on the 24th, the police have designated the Daegu Police Agency as the responsible investigative office and are conducting an internal investigation into the dissemination of false and fabricated information related to President Moon's COVID-19 vaccination.

The 'COVID-19 Vaccination Promotion Team' requested an investigation from the National Police Agency the previous day, stating that the fake news about 'syringe swapping' posted on some online communities could cause public anxiety and social confusion.

The Promotion Team explained, "During vaccination, the syringe needle was recapped and then uncovered just before the injection as a measure to prevent contamination of the syringe needle during the preparation time."
