[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Choyoung] Kim Jong-in, the Emergency Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, emphasized on the 5th that former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who resigned the day before, is a "person of the opposition" and stated, "A new convergence point may emerge in the process of change within the People Power Party after the by-election."

On the same day, in a phone call with Yonhap News, when reporters asked about the possibility of former Prosecutor General Yoon joining the People Power Party, Kim said, "The People Power Party must continue ongoing changes after the by-election to have hope in next year's presidential election."

He also emphasized that although President Moon Jae-in referred to former Prosecutor General Yoon as "the Prosecutor General of the Moon Jae-in administration" during a press conference earlier this year, since Yoon resigned in opposition to the administration, "he inevitably becomes a figure of the opposition party and opposition forces."

However, Kim predicted, "It will take considerable time before former Prosecutor General Yoon officially enters politics," adding, "We will make a judgment after the by-election is over."

He particularly explained that "the 'moment of the star' is something he himself must judge; no one else can tell him," highlighting that Yoon's decision is crucial for his political entry.

Earlier, in January, Kim appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "Depending on whether one properly captures the moment of the star, one can greatly contribute to the country or not," adding, "The moment of the star will probably be visible now."

Kim also mentioned that he had not yet been contacted by former Prosecutor General Yoon's side, but if Yoon wants to meet or seek advice, "I can meet him."
