[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Wono) will provide middle school first-year students with a youth experience learning card worth 50,000 won from March to June 30.
The district has been conducting the "Youth Experience Learning Card Support" project annually since 2017, starting with 36 affiliated stores, to offer youth various opportunities for cultural, artistic, and career experience activities.
Last year, 1,550 youths applied for the card, receiving about 115 million won in support, and this year plans to support experience activities for 2,003 students.
In December last year, the district conducted a survey of 292 youths and parents to support experience activities that meet youth demand.
Based on the survey on satisfaction with the experience learning card and considering youth preferences, affiliated stores were discovered, and among the total 128 affiliated stores, especially online affiliated stores such as ticket booking for cultural life and bookstores were continuously expanded to 7 stores.
The experience learning card is a rechargeable point card that supports a total of 100,000 won, 50,000 won each for the first and second half of the year, targeting first-year middle school students residing in Seongdong-gu and out-of-school youths aged 13, including foreign students.
The card issuance procedure will be simplified according to the COVID-19 situation, and applicants can apply by bringing a student ID or youth ID to the resident center of their district.
Applications for the first half of this year are accepted until June 30, and if the applicant continues to reside in Seongdong-gu, support for the second half will be automatic without a separate application.
Youths who apply for card issuance must register their card on the Seongdong-gu Experience Learning Card website after receiving it, and then use it at affiliated stores designated by Seongdong-gu Office, such as career, job, cultural experience, sports facilities, and experience centers.
Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "To provide youths with various cultural activities and career experience opportunities, we will secure more diverse affiliated stores and continue to make efforts to conduct experience activities while complying with quarantine guidelines such as social distancing."
