"Let's Go on a Gourmet Trip" Food and Dining Industry Offering Famous Overseas Dishes

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] The food industry has stepped up to help those who cannot travel abroad due to the spread of COVID-19. They are releasing new products that allow consumers to experience famous overseas dishes or the atmosphere of foreign countries, satisfying their craving for travel through taste.

According to the food industry on the 27th, KFC launched the ‘Kentucky Chicken Upgravy Burger’ to target consumers with an ‘American flavor.’ The Kentucky Chicken Burger is a reinterpretation by KFC of a chicken burger that caused a big sensation in the United States in 2019.

The Kentucky Chicken Upgravy Burger enhances its flavor by adding popular gravy sauce from the U.S. It also includes various sauces such as potato cheese sauce and pepper dressing, along with crispy hash browns and other ingredients to enrich both taste and texture.

Angel-in-us recently renewed and launched the Vietnamese-style sandwich ‘Banh Mi.’ The Banh Mi offered by Angel-in-us was developed based on an idea from an employee stationed in Vietnam. It features soft and chewy baguette bread made from domestically produced rice, filled generously with fresh vegetables and meats.

The renewed Banh Mi sandwiches include ‘Smoked Bacon Egg,’ which combines smoked bacon and egg with vegetables, and ‘Flower Crab Meat,’ which contains flower crab meat.

Coffee Bean introduced the Italian Milanese pasta ‘Spago.’ Spago emphasizes customization, allowing customers to choose their preferred pasta and sauce. Pasta options include four types: fettuccine, pappardelle, penne, and farfalle.

Fresh Easy recently launched the third installment of its ‘Missing the City’ project, offering meal kits featuring menus from overseas travel destinations, showcasing five representative dishes from Hong Kong. The recipes and ingredient compositions reflect Hong Kong’s unique food culture, from fusion dishes to desserts, recreating the local flavors. The lineup includes ‘Hong Kong-style Cereal Shrimp,’ ‘Yu Xiang Eggplant,’ ‘Hui Guo Rou (Twice-cooked Pork),’ ‘Mala Dandan Noodles,’ and ‘Hong Kong-style Egg Tart.’
