Jeonnam Province Reports No Issues with COVID-19 Vaccine Inoculation

[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 24th that it inspected the COVID-19 vaccine inoculation preparation status by visiting the Mokpo Regional Vaccination Center and Hyosung Nursing Hospital.

The inspection was conducted to pre-check the preparation status of the Mokpo Regional Vaccination Center and nursing hospitals and to encourage the officials ahead of the vaccine inoculation starting on the 26th.

The Regional Vaccination Center is established for the safe and rapid administration of the COVID-19 vaccine, and is operated with facilities meeting government installation standards, ultra-low temperature freezers, specialized personnel, and other equipment and manpower.

On the day, Song Sangrak, Vice Governor of Jeonnam Province, listened to the vaccine inoculation preparation status, difficulties, and on-site opinions, and expressed gratitude to the officials of Mokpo City and nursing hospitals.

Vice Governor Song said, “Unforeseen situations may occur,” and urged, “Please strictly manage the vaccine inoculation preparation status without lowering vigilance to ensure the vaccine is administered quickly and safely.”

The first inoculation targets are 17,741 people including residents and workers of nursing hospitals and nursing facilities under 65 years old.

Nursing hospitals with resident medical staff conduct inoculations themselves, while nursing facilities are visited by doctors from entrusted medical institutions or public health center teams to administer vaccines.

According to a recent survey on consent for vaccination, 94% of nursing hospitals and 97% of nursing facilities in Jeonnam agreed to vaccination.

Vice Governor Song said, “If herd immunity is formed through vaccination, we can overcome the current crisis,” and added, “Since this is the first implementation of COVID-19 vaccination, everyone must unite to maximize the vaccine’s effectiveness.”

Meanwhile, by 2 p.m. on the same day, two additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 regional infections occurred in Jeonnam, one each in Mokpo and Suncheon cities.
