"Financially Struggling" Delivery Worker Found Dead Inside Vehicle

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A delivery driver was found dead inside the delivery vehicle he was driving in Guro-gu, Seoul, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

The Guro Police Station in Seoul announced on the 24th that a man in his 40s, Mr. A, who worked in the delivery industry, was found dead inside a delivery vehicle parked in an alley near his home in Guro-dong at around 7:40 a.m. on the 23rd.

According to the police, Mr. A reportedly sent a text message to a colleague on the night of the 22nd implying an extreme choice.

The police believe that Mr. A took his own life after sending the message, based on the condition inside the vehicle at the time of discovery. No suicide note has been found so far, and Mr. A was known to have expressed financial difficulties to those around him.

However, it is reported that he did not complain about overwork or stress related to the recent controversy over excessive delivery work.

A police official stated, “We are investigating the exact cause of death.”
