[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 19th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jungheung Construction Co., Ltd. to lift the development restriction zone near 'Camp Jackson'.
'Camp Jackson,' located on the border between Uijeongbu City and Seoul, was used as a U.S. military non-commissioned officer school but was closed in April 2018 and returned on December 11 last year.
The city plans to lift the 'development restriction zone' on the area and create a cultural and artistic complex, including the construction of an international art center.
The city expects this project, along with the ongoing complex cultural convergence district development, to serve as an opportunity to develop Uijeongbu City into a cultural and artistic city.
