Uncle Orchestrated Crime to Prevent Sexual Assault Testimony
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] The sacrifice of a mother who lost her life by lying that she was her daughter to protect her daughter is drawing attention. The murderers were hired by the daughter's maternal uncle who sexually assaulted the daughter.
According to overseas media such as NBC News, on the 13th of last month, it was reported that Brittany Cormier (34) was killed at her home in Montegut, about 70 miles southwest of New Orleans. Neighbor Hope Nettleton (37), who visited Brittany at the time, was also killed.
According to the police, on the day of the incident, Brittany was at home with her biological daughter and stepdaughter.
On the 13th of last month, two men visited Brittany's house looking for Brittany's daughter. These men were Esquine (25) and Wilson (22), who were hired by the maternal uncle Bo Cormier (35).
Bo was charged in March last year with sexually assaulting Brittany's daughter and intended to kill her daughter to prevent her from testifying in court.
However, Brittany, the mother, said she was the rape victim to protect her daughter, claiming that she was the person the perpetrators were looking for, and was immediately shot by them. Neighbor Nettleton, who was visiting the house at the time, was also killed after resisting them.
Brittany's children, who were hiding in the closet at the time, survived.
Samantha Lemere, a longtime friend of Brittany, said, "She was someone who would do anything for her children," adding, "But I never thought something like this would happen. The children may have hidden in the closet out of fear, but I also think Brittany put them in the closet to protect them."
The maternal uncle Bo was arrested along with his friends Esquine and Wilson. They were charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Esquine and Wilson confessed to the related facts. Bo is known to have paid the two to kill the victims.
It is reported that they also attempted murder in November last year but failed. The prosecution added charges of conspiracy to commit murder to the attempted murder charges.
The perpetrators are currently incarcerated at Terrebonne Parish Prison.
