College Students Dreaming of Startups, Generously Supporting Friends Who Aspire to Start Their Own Business

Beautiful Donation by Dongmyeong University Startup Club Team

'Mamssi Team' Donates 1.2 Million Won to Startup Development Fund

Money Raised from Various Startup Competition Prizes

College Students Dreaming of Startups, Generously Supporting Friends Who Aspire to Start Their Own Business The Mamssi team, a startup club at Dongmyung University, donated the prize money they won at the startup competition to support university entrepreneurship education.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Students dreaming of starting a business put money forward for ‘startups.’ The money was collected from prize money won at startup competitions, and the generous donation was made to the university they attend.

Students from the Dongmyung University startup club entrusted 1.2 million won to the university as a development fund to be used for on-campus entrepreneurship education.

The startup club is ‘Mamssi Team’ (Team Leader Ryu Won-gyeong, 3rd year International Logistics, Advisor Professor Ahn Tae-young, International Logistics), part of Dongmyung University (President Jeong Hong-seop)’s Social Customized Industry-Academia Cooperation Leading University (LINC+) fostering project group.

Mamssi Team felt a sense of gratitude and indebtedness for the university’s active support so far.

They united their will to revitalize entrepreneurship education at the university and gathered prize money won from various startup competitions on and off campus, including this year’s Student Startup Promising Teams 300, and knocked on the president’s office door. The development fund handover ceremony took place on January 26.

Ryu Won-gyeong, team leader of Mamssi Team, said, “With the support of Dongmyung University LINC+ Project Group’s Startup Education Center (Director Park Cheol-su), we achieved excellent results in startup competitions such as advancing to the finals of the Ministry of Education’s Student Startup Promising Teams 300, the 6th Busan Startup Idea Competition hosted by Busan Economic Promotion Agency, and the Non-face-to-face Youth Startup Festival hosted by Busan Nam-gu Youth Creative Development Center.”

“Although it is a small amount, I hope it will be used valuably for entrepreneurship education and support for juniors,” he added.

Dongmyung University LINC+ Project Group Director (Vice President) Shin Dong-seok accepted the students’ hearts, saying, “We decided to use the development fund as a seed for revitalizing entrepreneurship education.”

Director Shin said, “I am grateful to Professor Ahn Tae-young of the International Logistics Department, who guided the startup club, and the students for taking the lead in practicing sharing to promote startup culture.”

President Jeong Hong-seop said, “Active startup club activities will greatly help with employment and startups after graduation,” and added, “The heart that does not hesitate to spend the prize money earned with passion for juniors is truly beautiful.”

The startup club Mamssi Team, consisting of 3rd-year International Logistics students Ryu Won-gyeong, Kim Min-jeong, Kim Ju-hong, Kim Min-gyeong, and Kwon Su-bin, selected ‘Anywhere, anytime, penetrable, breathable, and clean!’ as their startup item and advanced to the finals of the ‘Student Startup Promising Teams 300’ last July.

They also won good results and prize money in several startup competitions, including the Special Prize at the Busan Economic Promotion Agency Student Startup Competition, the Grand Prize at the Nam-gu Youth Creative Development Center Non-face-to-face Youth Startup Festival, and the Excellence Award at the on-campus Education Innovation and Startup Idea Competition.
