Four Additional Confirmed Cases from PCR Tests at Gwangju Hyojeong Nursing Hospital

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Additional confirmed cases have emerged again at Gwangju Hyojeong Nursing Hospital.

According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 22nd, five people, including four from Hyojeong Nursing Hospital and one with an unknown infection route, were confirmed positive for COVID-19, classified as cases 1472 to 1476.

Cases 1472 to 1475, related to Hyojeong Nursing Hospital, tested positive in the PCR screening test conducted every three days.

Case 1476 is a resident of Buk-gu, and the infection route is currently being investigated.

So far, 157 confirmed cases have occurred at Hyojeong Nursing Hospital: 110 patients, 32 staff members, and 15 family or acquaintances.

Confirmed and discharged patients have been transferred, and close contacts and non-contacts have been separated and transferred or discharged accordingly.

By the 23rd, 60 non-contact individuals have been transferred, with plans to disperse patients and staff to reduce density. On the 24th, the 8th PCR test, conducted at three-day intervals, is scheduled.

Meanwhile, in Gwangsan-gu, preemptive testing for foreigners is being conducted until the 24th.

Targeting 13,079 people including 1,922 university international students, 5,702 foreign workers, and 5,455 residents of the Koryoin Village, testing is being carried out at screening centers located at Nambu University, Koryoin Village, Pyeongdong Industrial Complex, and Hanam Industrial Complex.

So far, 524 tests have been conducted, with 368 negative results and 156 pending.

Due to low testing rates, temporary screening centers will be set up on Saturdays and Sundays in Koryoin Village and other areas to encourage testing.

Testing centers will operate at Dalmoa Children's Park in Wolgok 2-dong on the 23rd and 24th, and at Hana Bank Gwangsan Branch on the 24th.
