[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The pretty pebbles are also smart. The 'Galaxy Buds Pro,' released on the 15th, boasts the best performance among all Galaxy Buds series to date. The Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) feature that blocks external noise has been improved compared to the previous model, and it automatically lowers the music volume during conversations.
In the unpacking video on the day, a man listens to music with the Galaxy Buds Pro and then enters a cafe to order coffee from the clerk. As he does so, the music playing through the earbuds lowers in volume, and the sounds of the cafe become audible. This is thanks to a feature that recognizes when the user is speaking and automatically switches to ambient sound mode while lowering the music volume. This function is possible because the microphone detects the user's voice when they start speaking, and sensors detect vibrations near the mouth. The AI algorithm distinguishes between the user's voice and others' voices and recognizes who started the conversation.
The Galaxy Buds Pro are in-ear type earbuds that reduce external noise by up to 99% when ANC is turned on. The ambient sound mode has four levels and can amplify surrounding sounds by up to 20 decibels. Users can have conversations or listen to announcements even while wearing the earbuds. The earbuds separate the user's voice from unnecessary noise, improving call quality. Among the three microphones, one removes background noise. This is the first time this feature has been applied to clearly transmit voice even outdoors in strong wind.
When watching videos by connecting the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Buds Pro, if a call comes in on the ‘Galaxy S21,’ you can answer it directly. An automatic switching feature is introduced when used with Galaxy phones and tablets, which connects the call to the phone automatically. It also supports a game mode that reduces audio latency.
The water resistance rating is the highest among Buds products to date, at IPX7. It can withstand being submerged in water up to 1 meter deep for about 30 minutes. The usage time is up to 8 hours, and up to 28 hours when placed in the wireless charging case. When using ANC, playback lasts up to 5 hours, and charging with the case allows for 18 hours of playback. Quick charging is supported, enabling 1 hour of playback with just 5 minutes of charging.
The price is 239,800 KRW. The colors are Phantom Black, Silver, and Violet. Purchasing from Samsung Electronics’ website includes a special ‘Anycall’ cover, and online retailers offer character covers featuring Simpsons, Star Wars, and Kakao Friends.
