Sejong Cyber University IT Department Advances Practical Training Environment Through Virtual Lab

Sejong Cyber University (President Shin Gu) IT Department (Department of Software Engineering, Department of Computer and AI Engineering, Department of Information Security, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) has established a virtual lab environment applying cloud computing technology to advance the practical training environment aimed at digital innovation in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.


The IT Department at Sejong Cyber University is fully equipped with the latest equipment and practical facilities, striving to nurture specialized IT talents with practical skills.


The IT Department has completed the construction of a virtualization-based IT lab and improved the practical training environment by enabling the use of IT-related services such as data storage, networking, and content usage all at once through servers on the internet.


Sejong Cyber University plans to expand the virtualization environment starting with the IT Department, converting all school data centers to the cloud to establish a more efficient smart campus environment.


Through the cloud-based virtual lab, the IT Department expects to build the same practical training environment anytime, anywhere, and on any device, providing students with a practical and safe training environment, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of the IT Department and guaranteeing students' right to learn.


Professor Yoo Hye-jung, head of the IT Department at Sejong Cyber University, explained, “We plan to conduct major practical classes within each department of the IT Department through the cloud-based virtual lab. We aim to provide a comfortable and efficient learning environment for students who have different classes and practical environments in various IT settings, and expect to smoothly operate classes requiring high-performance PCs such as artificial intelligence, starting with coding practice.”


The IT Department at Sejong Cyber University consists of the Department of Software Engineering, Department of Computer and AI Engineering, Department of Information Security, and Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Recognizing the importance of cultivating IT professionals, it focuses on educating new technologies leading the 4th Industrial Revolution era, such as software, computer, artificial intelligence (AI), information security, electrical and electronic engineering, and telecommunications.


Sejong Cyber University plans to expand the virtualization and cloud technology-applied virtual labs to all departments, starting with the IT Department.


The IT Department prepared a special winter lecture for the 2020 academic year to understand the trends of IT technology changes and to lead them. Through the digital innovation special lecture of the 4th Industrial Revolution era, it plans to review the big picture of academic work and present a career roadmap to students.


Sejong Cyber University IT Department is recruiting new and transfer students for the 2021 spring semester starting from Tuesday, December 1.
