Handcrafted Beer Brewing Equipment InderKeg Selected as 'Excellent Design Product' by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] InderKeg, a company that develops and sells B2B handmade beer brewing equipment, announced on the 23rd that it was selected as an excellent design product in the electric and electronic products category at the ‘2020 Good Design Competition.’

This competition is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. The Good Design product selection has been conducted annually since 1985 under the Industrial Design Promotion Act, awarding the government certification mark GD (Good Design) to products and services with excellent design.

InderKeg, which launched the world’s first B2B brewing platform, applied a hexagon design that had not been seen in other electronic devices.

While commonly sold general electronic products like refrigerators are designed only on the front side from the user’s perspective, excluding the back and sides, InderKeg applies the same design on all five sides except the side with the dispenser, creating a sense of unity from any angle.

Additionally, the bottom features a mobile wheel and bearing structure design, allowing easy movement of the product as well as 180-degree left and right rotation in place, enabling convenient use regardless of the user’s position.

The usability aspect of pouring beer also stands out. The 8-inch LCD pad and dispenser positioned at the user’s eye level provide optimal usability for easily pouring various types of beer by category.

Meanwhile, InderKeg began attracting public attention after winning innovation awards in two categories at the 2020 CES exhibition. Thanks to the proactive administration of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, it obtained a liquor manufacturing license based on the revision of the Liquor Tax Act, which provides the legal basis for domestic business operations. The revised Liquor Tax Act, often called the ‘InderKeg Act,’ was a decisive catalyst for changes in the Liquor Tax Act that had remained unchanged for decades, and domestic sales have been ongoing since last August.

Kang Tae-il, CEO of InderKeg, stated, “The hexagonal design of InderKeg was not simply an attempt to create a visual differentiation point, but the result of careful consideration to maximize user convenience by minimizing spatial constraints while increasing usability.”
