[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] The Korea Convenience Store Industry Association is participating in the 'Child Abuse Prevention Campaign' organized by five member companies (GS25, CU, Seven Eleven, Ministop, C Space) and the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare designated the period until the 24th as Child Abuse Prevention Week in observance of 'World Child Abuse Prevention Day.' The child abuse prevention campaign aims to improve social awareness by displaying posters with the message "Corporal punishment for discipline can lead to child abuse crimes" on convenience store POS screens.
Choi Kyung-ho, Chairman of the Korea Convenience Store Industry Association, stated, "It is essential to spread social awareness that child abuse is a serious crime, not corporal punishment for discipline," adding, "The convenience store industry will actively perform its role and functions to contribute to the eradication of child abuse by preventing and protecting children, who are our future, from abuse."
