Ahn Young-mi and Park Ji-sun Break Down in Tears Over Death News... Live Radio Broadcast Suspended

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Comedian Ahn Young-mi halted her live radio broadcast upon hearing the tragic news of Park Ji-sun's passing.

On the afternoon of the 2nd, Ahn Young-mi left her seat near the end of the live broadcast of MBC FM4U's "Date at Two with Muzy, this is Ahn Young-mi."

That day, Ahn Young-mi conducted a psychological test with guest Song Jin-woo. Toward the end of the live video radio broadcast, Ahn Young-mi seemed to have received the tragic news from a staff member and asked, "What?"

After two consecutive songs played in the latter part of the broadcast, Song Jin-woo expressed gratitude on behalf of Ahn Young-mi, saying, "Thank you again today, and we will be together again next week on the video radio."

It appears that during the live broadcast, Ahn Young-mi learned of her colleague Park Ji-sun’s death and hurriedly left the radio studio.

Netizens listening to the broadcast expressed their sorrow, saying, "Suddenly, a loud crying sound was heard, followed by a song."

Ahn Young-mi and Park Ji-sun formed a bond as senior and junior comedians from KBS’s 19th and 22nd public recruitment classes in 2004 and 2007, respectively, and appeared together on KBS2's "Gag Concert." Later, they built friendships as members of a book club along with Song Eun-i and others.

Meanwhile, according to the police, Park Ji-sun was found dead with her mother at their home in Mapo-gu, Seoul, around 1:44 p.m. that day. Park Ji-sun had been undergoing treatment for a chronic illness, and her mother had come to Seoul to live with her.

According to the 119 emergency responders, Park Ji-sun’s father reported them missing after failing to contact the mother and daughter, and upon arrival at the scene, both were already deceased.

The police are focusing on the possibility of a suicide and are investigating the exact circumstances.
