[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] On the 14th, Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae stated, "The completion of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) is the completion of prosecutorial reform."
Minister Choo mentioned on social media (SNS) that Democratic Party leader Lee Nak-yeon and Supreme Council members Kim Jong-min and Shin Dong-geun visited the CIO office within the Government Complex Gwacheon, adding, "The Gwacheon CIO has been waiting for its landlord for three months."
She also emphasized, "Following the opinion of President Moon Jae-in, a human rights lawyer, who asked for the investigative agency to become a model of investigation, the CIO will serve as an example to other investigative agencies in terms of investigation processes, procedures, and methods."
Minister Choo stated, "I will do my best to overcome the current situation where even the formation of the Chief Recommendation Committee is blocked, so that the agency responsible for public office corruption and misconduct investigations can sail smoothly."
