[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Lotte Department Store announced on the 17th that it will introduce an express delivery service for customers who were unable to purchase gifts before the holiday season.
To strengthen the rapid delivery of holiday gift sets, Lotte Department Store has applied the 'Express Delivery' service, which was previously available only online, to its main offline store as well. Online orders for holiday gift sets close 5 to 6 days before the holiday, making this service very useful for those who miss the online purchase period or need urgent same-day delivery when buying gifts close to the holiday. Especially on the 29th, when all stores have finished accepting rapid delivery orders, the express delivery service at the main store is the only last option for placing orders before the holiday.
The express delivery service, piloted for the first time at the main store this Chuseok, delivers within 3 hours to all areas of Seoul after purchase. From the 25th to the 29th, for five days, it applies to fresh gift sets such as meat, fruits, and dried yellow corvina purchased for 90,000 KRW or more, with a limited daily quantity. Same-day orders are accepted until 5:30 PM. Starting from next year’s Lunar New Year, the service will be expanded to more stores.
In addition, starting this Chuseok, to ensure fresh delivery of gift sets such as meat and fruits, a 'Holiday Delivery Information Confirmation Service' has been introduced, allowing recipients to directly change the delivery date and address via 'Kakao AlimTalk' notifications.
Meanwhile, Lotte Department Store is making every effort to ensure that heartfelt gifts are delivered safely by focusing on thorough disinfection and has secured two additional backup logistics centers in preparation for emergencies. This Chuseok, demand for gift preparation is expected to increase as more people choose to send gifts instead of visiting their hometowns, and cases of logistics centers closing due to COVID-19 continue to occur.
To prevent COVID-19, dedicated disinfection personnel operate to sanitize delivery centers and vehicles. The delivery centers will be thoroughly disinfected twice daily, and vehicle disinfection will be conducted separately to ensure strict hygiene related to delivery. Delivery workers will work in three shifts, with strict management of mask-wearing, temperature checks, and electronic entry log management.
Also, all gift sets shipped from the centers will be delivered with disinfectant wipes so customers can clean their hands and the products. Before delivery, customers are asked in advance whether they prefer contactless receipt, and delivery completion notifications are sent through a safe delivery alert service.
Lotte Department Store’s Chuseok gift set delivery accepts orders until the 27th for nationwide courier delivery, and for rapid delivery to areas near stores, orders can be accepted until the 28th depending on the store.
Yu Young-taek, Head of Support Division at Lotte Department Store, stated, “For this Chuseok, we have established thorough disinfection measures and systems so that customers can send and receive gifts with peace of mind. We have also enhanced detailed services such as the 3-hour express delivery and easy delivery date change service.”
