Seongbuk-gu Operates Jamnol Neighborhood Learning Center 'Playing in the Garden'

From the 24th, Basic Urban Agriculture and Crop Cultivation Programs for Residents... Supporting Indoor Leisure Activities for Residents Experiencing Psychological Depression Due to COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) is operating the 'Playing in the Garden' program for local residents and youth at the 'Jamnol Neighborhood Learning Center' located in Jangwi 3-dong, revealing the secrets to becoming urban farmers to the residents.

The program will begin with an orientation on the 24th and will be held every Tuesday for a total of 10 sessions.

Through this, residents will learn the basics of urban agriculture, how to set up box gardens on rooftops and balconies, and how to cultivate crops. After the program ends, a learning-practice project will be conducted, supporting community learning activities among local residents such as network parties.

A representative of the 'Jamnol Neighborhood Learning Center' said regarding the program operation, "As social activities have become difficult due to prolonged social distancing from COVID-19, we hope this opportunity to cultivate box gardens at home will help overcome tired minds and psychological depression, share the joy of harvest with neighbors, and form a learning community."

The 'Neighborhood Learning Center Within One Step' operation project has been conducted by the Seongbuk-gu Lifelong Learning Center since 2019 to build a dense lifelong learning network for residents.

Currently, there are 13 neighborhood learning centers in Seongbuk-gu, and the 'Jamnol Neighborhood Learning Center' was newly designated in 2020.
