On September 26th at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Classical guitarist Park Gyu-hee (photo) will hold a 10th anniversary debut concert at the Seoul Arts Center Concert Hall on September 26.
Park Gyu-hee first picked up the guitar at the age of three, following her mother who was learning classical guitar. She graduated from Seoul Yewon School, Tokyo University of the Arts in Japan, and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in Austria. At the Vienna University, she studied under the world-renowned guitar master Alvaro Pierri. Since her debut album "Sue?o" in 2010, she has released eight albums to date.
In this concert, she plans to perform Isaac Alb?niz's "Catalonia Overture," the 4th movement "Adagietto" from Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 5, among others. The Adagietto will be performed in an arrangement by Hirokazu Sato. Various collaborations are also prepared. She will collaborate with a flutist on Astor Piazzolla's "History of Tango," and perform music from Georges Bizet's opera "Carmen" arranged for guitar quartet.
Park Gyu-hee is the first Korean to win the Alhambra International Guitar Competition, the first female and first Asian to win the Belgium Printemps International Guitar Competition, and has won nine international competitions so far. She has collaborated with world-renowned orchestras and masters such as Seiji Ozawa, Fabio Luisi, and Yuri Bashmet, and performed on the main concert stage of the Daegwallyeong Music Festival this year.
