Rainfall forecast over 30mm per hour in Central Region and Gyeongbuk
Cumulative rainfall: Boseong 138.0mm, Wando (today) 137.0mm
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Typhoon No. 5 'Jangmi' made landfall around 2:50 PM on the 10th at the southern end of Geoje Island, southeast of Tongyeong, Gyeongnam.
As the typhoon gradually moves northward, strong rain clouds with hourly rainfall exceeding 30mm are expected to develop in the central region and Gyeongbuk, which are indirectly affected by the typhoon.
The Korea Meteorological Administration expanded heavy rain warnings as of 3 PM for eastern Seoul, southern Gyeonggi west coast, northern Chungnam, and inland Gyeongbuk.
By 3 PM, the rainfall at major locations recorded 138.0mm in Boseong, 137.0mm in Wando (today), 103.5mm in Jirisan, 99.0mm in Goheung (Doyang), and 86.0mm in Hadong.
The Korea Meteorological Administration urged, "Since heavy rain is expected along with strong winds, severe damage is a concern, so please be especially cautious."
The typhoon is expected to advance near Pohang around 6 PM and then move out to the East Sea during the night.
