Jeonnam Sarangui Yeolmae-Jindo County, COVID-19 Overcome 'Activation of Individual Donations' MOU

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea (President Dong-il Noh, Jeonnam Love Fruit) announced on the 6th that it signed an agreement with Jindo County to promote ‘individual donation activation’ to overcome the COVID-19 disaster.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Dong-jin, Jindo County Governor, Kim Sang-gyu, Secretary General of Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea, Cheon Yulgok, Director of Jindo County Basic Food Bank Center, and other officials from related organizations.

The agreement is a fundraising project promoted to support low-income crisis families in Jindo County who are struggling to maintain their livelihoods due to COVID-19 through public-private cooperation.

It plans to actively discover donors targeting not only Jindo residents and local self-employed business owners but also individuals from financial institutions, schools, and government offices.

According to the agreement, Jindo County will actively promote the fundraising campaign through street promotions and targeting users of community centers, while Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea plans to identify and support vulnerable groups in the welfare blind spots suffering from COVID-19 with the donations collected throughout the year.

Jindo County has participated in donations every year by operating daily tea houses in each town and township, starting with the voluntary participation of public officials to activate the year-end Hope Sharing Campaign fundraising conducted by Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea.

Earlier, on the 4th, Gwangju Shinsegae (CEO Lee Dong-hoon) donated 10 million won to Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea for purchasing blankets to help marginalized families struggling with the heatwave every year. Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea delivered the purchased goods according to the donation purpose, and they will be distributed to 250 low-income households in Jindo County affected by COVID-19.

Lee Dong-jin, Jindo County Governor, said, “Providing customized welfare services for local residents to create a safe and happy Jindo is one of my pledges,” and added, “We will expand the business agreement to support more marginalized groups.”

Kim Sang-gyu, Secretary General of Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea, said, “Thank you for leading the spread of the donation culture on the precious island of Jindo, and we will become an institution that leads transparent sharing,” and added, “I hope all Jeonnam residents participate in the Soda-su Sharing Campaign and have an opportunity to feel the happiness value of sharing.”

Meanwhile, Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea is conducting the Soda-su Sharing Campaign for year-round welfare projects to support vulnerable groups in difficult environments due to COVID-19 and contribute to the promotion of community welfare.

The Soda-su Campaign means ‘Precious Majority Donation’ and is a nationwide donation campaign where people participate monthly with small amounts in daily life.
