[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics will hold its new product launch event, 'Galaxy Unpacked,' untact (non-face-to-face) on the 5th. This is the first time in 11 years since the first Unpacked event was held in 2009 that new products are being unveiled exclusively online.

On the 5th, Samsung Electronics will livestream the Unpacked event from 11 PM Korea time (10 AM US Eastern Time) on Samsung Electronics Newsroom, its official website, Samsung Electronics YouTube, and Facebook. While previous Unpacked events were held in person in San Francisco and New York, inviting media and business partners, this year’s event will be held solely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To generate interest in the online Unpacked event, Samsung Electronics released trailer videos in two phases. BTS, who have a global partnership with Samsung Electronics, gamer MYTH, and artist Khalid appear in the videos delivering messages to attract attention. They are expected to introduce the new products featured in the Unpacked event themselves. The event will be broadcast live worldwide with a mix of live and pre-recorded footage filmed in Korea.

At this Unpacked event, Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note20, Galaxy Z Fold2, Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Watch3, and Galaxy Tab S7. Compared to last year’s Unpacked event which only revealed the Note series, the lineup is much richer this time. Wireless earbuds, smartwatches, and new tablets join as significant supporting products. Under the theme 'Inside Galaxy Innovation,' developers and designers will also share behind-the-scenes stories about development and design.

Immediately after the event, Samsung Electronics plans to set up offline experience zones in key locations such as Samsung Digital Plaza and Yeongdeungpo Times Square. They will expand consumer touchpoints by enhancing services like the smartphone rental service 'Galaxy To Go.' Among the products unveiled at Unpacked, the Galaxy Buds Live and Galaxy Note20 will be released within this month, and the Galaxy Z Fold2 is expected to launch in September.
