Resuming Library Services with Adherence to Social Distancing in Daily Life
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City announced on the 5th that it will fully reopen the Gwangyang City Libraries: Jungang, Huimang, and Yonggang Libraries starting from the 8th.
Gwangyang City Libraries had partially reopened since the 7th of last month, providing lending and return services in the reading rooms, following the transition of the COVID-19 quarantine system to 'social distancing in daily life.'
After a month of partial reopening to review the quarantine system, it was decided to resume overall library services. Jungma Library, which is undergoing remodeling construction, will remain closed until August.
The operating hours for the reading rooms and study rooms are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Huimang Library from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Library users must wear masks, undergo a temperature check before entry, fill out a visitor log, and sanitize their hands before using the services.
The study rooms and reading rooms will operate while adhering to social distancing quarantine rules, such as reducing the number of seats and maintaining a 1 to 2-meter distance. Library cultural events and educational programs will also gradually resume with a minimized number of participants.
Lee Gi-seop, Director of Library Operations, said, “We will do our best to ensure citizens can safely use the libraries through thorough quarantine measures,” and added, “We ask that everyone comply with COVID-19 quarantine rules when using the libraries.”
