[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) is recruiting young entrepreneurs to participate in the 'Jongno Youth Forest,' held every Monday to Saturday from 12 PM to 8 PM at the solar garden space near Jonggak Station (in front of Jongno Bookstore) starting in June.
Started in 2017, the 'Jongno Youth Forest' was created to support young entrepreneurs struggling with sales channels due to lack of sales space and promotion.
It stands out by leveraging the area's characteristics, where various institutions and companies are concentrated, resulting in strong purchasing power and a large number of tourists and passersby.
Through the operation of the Youth Forest, the district has consistently received positive responses from citizens passing by by showcasing not only the sale of young entrepreneurs' idea products and handmade goods but also various performances, experience programs, and events.
The target participants for this Jongno Youth Forest are a total of 40 young sellers aged between 18 and 39 who are residents of Seoul.
The district plans to recruit 10 teams per session divided into ▲1st session (6.8~6.13) ▲2nd session (6.15~6.20) ▲3rd session (6.22~6.27) ▲4th session (6.29~7.4), giving priority to Jongno residents, university students located in Jongno-gu, and those who have completed Jongno-gu startup programs.
Applications must be submitted by 6 PM on the 22nd via email (market@respace.co.kr) with the participation application form, production process, and photo materials.
The application form can be downloaded from the district office website (http://www.jongno.go.kr), and participation is free of charge (deposit of 50,000 KRW required).
Jongno Youth Forest prohibits the sale of products that are not directly made, mass-produced and distributed in the market, food items, products that harm public morals, or those posing safety risks.
Additionally, card payment must be available, and if card payment is not possible, alternatives such as bank transfer, Zero Pay, or Kakao Pay must be clearly informed.
Selected participants will be provided with one booth inside the store (including a mobile stand, chair, signboard, lockable storage space, electricity, etc.), and product photography is also possible in the studio set up at the event venue.
Final participants will be notified via text message and email on the 27th, and a preliminary briefing and participant meeting are scheduled for June 3rd.
For more detailed information regarding Jongno Youth Forest, inquiries can be made by phone or email to Respace Company.
Mayor Kim Young-jong stated, “Jongno Youth Forest was created to support young entrepreneurs facing difficulties in sales due to high rent and to encourage their growth. To create youth jobs, we will continuously operate not only market support but also startup support programs to cheer on the hopeful future of Jongno's youth and help their economic independence.”
Jongno-gu operates the ‘Jongno Youth Startup Center’ (5th floor, Naeil Building, Saemunan-ro 3-gil 3) to discover and support young entrepreneurs who take on challenges. This center, consisting of offices for resident companies, open startup spaces for one-person companies and prospective entrepreneurs, and meeting rooms, provides thorough startup counseling, expert consulting, and substantial education for startups.
