[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Singer Baek Da-bin raised her voice, urging A (49), who is suspected of assaulting a security guard at an apartment in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, leading to the guard's extreme decision, to "apologize to the bereaved family." Baek Da-bin previously claimed that A verbally abused her and other affiliated singers when he worked as a manager at an entertainment agency.
On the 14th, Baek Da-bin told Herald POP in an interview, "I exposed this because I was disgusted that A tried to cover up the crime," adding, "Based on past experiences, it is hard to see the assault on the security guard as accidental or out of anger," explaining her reason for the revelation.
She continued, "I also revealed this to provide evidence. A is usually quiet and gentle, but tends to throw tantrums when dealing with people he considers lower in status," claiming, "He even called the security guard a 'meoseum' (servant), which shows he thought the guard was defying him."
She added, "In the past, A told me, 'I am part of an organization, and burying someone like you is nothing,' but I don't think there is an actual organization behind him. It seemed like he was pretending to be a gangster and making threatening verbal abuses," and "While there was no physical assault when I was at the agency, he frequently verbally abused me."
Baek Da-bin said, "I am not seeking punishment for A now. I would just let it go. However, the bereaved family has suffered an irreparable wound because of this incident. I hope he offers a sincere apology," urging A to apologize.
Earlier, on the 13th, Baek Da-bin told Busan Ilbo, "I was part of the entertainment agency where A was a manager, CEO, and producer from 2017 to 2019," claiming she suffered verbal abuse and power harassment from A during that time.
Meanwhile, the late security guard Choi Hee-seok, who worked at an apartment in Ui-dong, Gangbuk-gu, could not endure the assault and verbal abuse from resident A and was found dead near his home on the 10th, leaving a note expressing his grievance.
Choi had a dispute with A over parking issues within the apartment complex on the 21st of last month. It is known that Choi was verbally and physically abused by A afterward. A is currently claiming mutual assault.
The police banned A from leaving the country on the 11th and plan to summon him for questioning this week, reviewing whether to request an arrest warrant depending on necessity.
