[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Broadcaster Jung Young-jin (45), who was appointed as the new DJ of MBC Standard FM's 'Single Bungle Show,' stepped down from the program after controversy arose over his past misogynistic remarks.


On the 8th, MBC Radio Department announced, "From the 11th, the revamped MBC Standard FM 'Single Bungle Show' will be temporarily hosted by announcer Heo Il-hoo and the previously appointed successor, singer Bae Ki-sung."


They added, "After internal review regarding the recent controversies surrounding broadcaster Jung Young-jin, who was appointed as the host of 'Single Bungle Show,' it was decided this morning to exclude him from the position of host."


Jung Young-jin appeared on the EBS program 'Kkachil Namnyeo' aired on August 14, 2017, where he said, "Men mainly pay for dating expenses, and the attitude of women who take this for granted is not much different from sales in a broad sense," which sparked controversy.


He later stated on a podcast, "There was a remark of mine that received a lot of criticism. I said that women who do not appreciate men buying things for them are, in a broad sense, prostitutes," which drew public backlash.


Additionally, Jung Young-jin has previously caused controversy with misogynistic remarks such as, "'Hannamchung' (a derogatory term for Korean men) does not offend me because it does not apply to me," and "Women who are offended by the term 'Kimchi-nyeo' (a derogatory term for Korean women) are those who are slightly 'Kimchi-nyeo' but deny it."
