[Featured Stock] E-World Surges as Parent Company's Land Gains Spotlight Amid UN Peace Special City Initiative

[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] E-World is showing strength following the news of the 'UN Peace Special City' project in Goseong, Gangwon Province. It appears that the spotlight is on the fact that its largest shareholder, E-Land Park, owns land in the Toseong-myeon area of Goseong County, Gangwon Province.

At around 9:40 a.m. on the 23rd, E-World recorded 4,515 won, up 6.61% from the previous day. The government's revival of the inter-Korean railway project and the momentum gained by the Goseong 'UN Peace Special City' development promoted at the Gangwon Province level seem to have acted as positive factors. The E-Land Group, to which E-World belongs, is known to own a considerable amount of land in the Goseong County area of Gangwon Province. The Kensington Resort Seorak Beach, owned by the E-Land Group, is also located in the Toseong-myeon area of Goseong County, Gangwon Province.

Earlier this year, Governor Choi Moon-soon of Gangwon Province announced plans to specifically discuss the 'inter-Korean railway connection' and the 'construction of the Goseong UN Peace City,' and to raise these issues on the international stage. However, the UN visit schedule has been postponed due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Unification held the 313th Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation Promotion Council (Gyouchu-hyeop) on the same day to discuss recognizing the 'East Sea Northern Line Gangneung?Jejin Railway Construction Project' (total 110.9 km) as an inter-Korean cooperation project and plans to create conditions for early commencement, including exemption from the preliminary feasibility study (preliminary review).
