44만원 Cheaper Than iPhone 11
Screen Size and Battery Same as iPhone 8... Equipped with Latest A13 Chip
Camera, Display, and Battery Specs Lag Behind iPhone 11
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Apple has unveiled the second generation of the mid-range iPhone SE, priced in the 500,000 KRW range. It is released at a price more than 400,000 KRW cheaper than the iPhone 11, which was relatively affordable and had the same specifications as the iPhone 8. The intention is to target consumers who prefer smaller smartphones but have limited budgets.
The strength of the second generation iPhone SE is its price. The domestic launch prices are set at ▲55,000 KRW for the 64GB model ▲62,000 KRW for the 128GB model ▲76,000 KRW for the 256GB model. The iPhone 11 starts at 990,000 KRW for the 64GB model and 1,200,000 KRW for the 256GB model, making it 440,000 KRW more expensive than the second generation iPhone SE. Considering that the iPhone 8 is priced at 946,000 KRW for the 64GB model and 1,142,900 KRW for the 256GB model, the price of the second generation iPhone SE significantly lowers the entry barrier.
The screen size of both the second generation iPhone SE and the iPhone 8 is 4.7 inches. The iPhone SE was 4 inches but has grown compared to its predecessor. The iPhone 11 has a 6.1-inch screen with much thinner bezels, but the LCD display itself is the same. The second generation iPhone SE features a 'Retina HD display,' while the iPhone 11 uses a 'Liquid Retina HD display.' Although the terms differ, the pixel density per inch is identical.
The camera specifications are where the iPhone 11 significantly outperforms. The iPhone 11 is equipped with a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. In contrast, the second generation iPhone SE has a single 12-megapixel camera. The iPhone 11 is more useful for landscape or night photography. The front camera on the second generation iPhone SE is 7 megapixels, whereas the iPhone 11 has a 12-megapixel front camera. The second generation iPhone SE also supports portrait mode on the front camera. Both support 4K video recording.
The second generation iPhone SE has a home button. It is expected to be the only iPhone model with a home button among Apple’s released products. Instead of swiping, users can press the home button to return to the previous screen. Instead of Face ID used on the iPhone 11, the second generation iPhone SE uses Touch ID for fingerprint recognition.
The second generation iPhone SE is equipped with the same A13 Bionic chipset as the iPhone 11. Apple describes the A13 Bionic chip as the fastest among its smartphones, developed with a focus on machine learning technology. The battery capacity is expected to be the same as the iPhone 8. Apple has not disclosed battery specifications but compares it to the previous model, with the iPhone 8 battery known to be 1821mAh. However, thanks to the efficiency of the A13 chip, battery life may be somewhat extended. The iPhone 11 battery is 3110mAh.
In terms of device size and weight, the second generation iPhone SE and the iPhone 8 are identical, while the iPhone 11 is larger and heavier. The second generation iPhone SE weighs 148g, and the iPhone 11 weighs 194g. The iPhone SE 2 measures 138.4mm in width, 67.3mm in height, and 7.3mm in thickness. It is 12.5mm shorter in height, 8.4mm narrower in width, and 1mm thinner than the iPhone 11. The iPhone 11 also leads in water and dust resistance ratings. The second generation iPhone SE has an IP67 rating, able to withstand depths of up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, while the iPhone 11 has an IP68 rating, able to endure depths of up to 2 meters for 30 minutes.
