[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Men in their 20s who sexually assaulted minors after giving them alcohol have been sentenced to prison.
The Ulsan District Court's 11th Criminal Division (Chief Judge Park Ju-young) announced on the 7th that A (20) and B (20), who were tried on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles from Sexual Abuse (quasi-rape), were each sentenced to six years in prison.
The court also ordered them to complete 80 hours of sexual violence treatment programs and imposed a five-year employment restriction at institutions related to children and adolescents.
The court stated, "The nature of the crime is quite severe as the defendants jointly committed the offense against a youth who was intoxicated to the point of being unable to resist."
It added, "The sentencing considered the defendants' denial of the crime, the lack of settlement or forgiveness from the victim, and the apparent severe sexual shame and mental distress experienced by the victim."
Previously, A and B were prosecuted for sexually assaulting C (then 17 years old) at a motel in Nam-gu, Ulsan, in October 2018, after she had passed out from heavy drinking.
Investigations revealed that they made C drink alcohol by having her drink on behalf of others while playing games.
