[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] A pregnant woman went into labor and collapsed in a subway station, but thanks to the help of citizens, she safely gave birth. The couple visited the station with their baby after the birth to express their gratitude, creating a touching moment.

Both the mother and baby were in a potentially dangerous situation, but thanks to the hands of citizens, a precious new life was born.

According to MBC's "News Desk" on the 6th, on the 28th of last month at Yongsan Station on Seoul Subway Line 1, a woman in her 20s, A, who was full-term pregnant, felt labor pains and hurriedly got off. Although her due date was about two weeks away, it was an urgent situation where the baby could be born at any moment.

CCTV footage from the subway station shows A holding onto the stair handrail, enduring severe pain. Her husband, B, stands beside her, holding his wife and looking helpless. Eventually, the wife gave birth on the cold platform floor, and the husband caught the baby.

However, due to continuous bleeding, the husband called out for help, and two university students ran toward him.

According to reports, the students, majoring in health-related fields, checked the condition of the mother and baby, helped call 119 emergency services, and another student urgently informed a nearby station staff member of the situation.

The station staff who arrived at the scene brought blankets and other necessary items to protect the mother and baby. Later, 119 paramedics arrived, performed emergency treatment including cutting the newborn's umbilical cord, and transported them to Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital in Seoul.

The students humbly stated that anyone would have acted as they did. They said, "Even if it wasn't me, I believe any citizen nearby would have reported and stayed by the mother's side."

The station staff who helped the mother at the scene said, "When we heard the baby was healthy, all the staff were happy and applauded. It was very joyful," adding, "My heart was touched and it felt good."

The couple visited the station staff a week later to express their thanks. They said, "We are very grateful," and "People who do such good deeds will surely be blessed with only good things wherever they go," showing their appreciation.
