40,000 KRW 'Child Care Coupon' Provided Per Child
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that it has launched a support project worth 490 million won to alleviate the economic burden on households raising children due to the spread of COVID-19.
This support project plans to provide the support funds on the 13th, and electronic gift certificates (care points) worth 400,000 won per child will be given.
The recipients are children receiving child allowance as of March, and the funds will be provided via the Child Happiness Card or the National Happiness Card. If the welfare card is not available, a gift card worth 400,000 won will be issued separately.
Gift card issuance can be applied for by visiting the Bokjiro website or the Eup/Myeon office, and will be delivered to the applicant's address within 2 to 3 weeks.
The electronic gift certificates (care points) and gift cards can be used like cash within Jeollanam-do, but cannot be used at large supermarkets, department stores, online shopping malls, large electronics stores, or entertainment establishments.
Kim Cheol-woo, the mayor of Boseong-gun, said, “To prevent COVID-19 infection, we decided on a non-face-to-face payment method, and by restricting the regions and industries where the funds can be used, we expect this to help not only alleviate the economic burden on households raising children but also revitalize the local economy.”
Meanwhile, the temporary support project for child-rearing was confirmed for implementation after the supplementary budget passed the National Assembly on the 18th of last month.
