[Asia Economy Reporter Park Cheol-eung] The Democratic Party of Korea and the Together Citizens Party have jointly pledged to protect the rights and interests of the "Eul" class, including self-employed individuals and small business owners.

Woo Won-sik, the Democratic Party candidate for Nowon-gu Eul, and Lee Dong-joo, the proportional representation candidate for the Together Citizens Party, held a press conference at the National Assembly Press Hall on the 5th, stating, "The Together Citizens Party and the Democratic Party of Korea unite their strength to overcome the current hardships and promise the people a hopeful commitment for the rights and interests of the 'Eul' class, ensuring a better tomorrow."

Candidate Lee said, "We will ensure that complex shopping malls and local commercial districts can coexist," adding, "From the urban planning stage, we will impose location restrictions on complex shopping malls and designate operating hours restrictions and mandatory closing days, similar to large marts."

They also pledged to set appropriate rental fee rates tailored to each region and commercial district. The converted deposit system will be abolished. They will also promote the enactment of a law for the protection and fostering of small and medium-sized retailers. The goal is to strengthen competitiveness through online transition and collaboration promotion.

Candidate Woo said, "The Democratic Party of Korea and the Together Citizens Party will stand with the struggling people of this land until the final victory in the war against COVID-19 and become a bastion of hope for the people to rise again."
