[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) is promoting the "Love Lunchbox Event to Revive Local Businesses" on four Tuesdays from March 24 to April 14 to support local dining businesses whose sales have declined due to COVID-19.
Businesses such as Sinchon Nutrition Center, New York B&C, Hanultari, Yachaereul Damda, and Rooftop Camping are participating, offering a variety of menus including half-chicken soup, garlic steak pilaf, bulgogi set meal, daily salad, and tomato rice.
The district conducts pre-demand surveys for these menus and places orders with each business. On March 24, 219 lunchboxes were purchased, and on March 31, 272 lunchboxes were sold.
Participating businesses said, "Sales have dropped significantly due to COVID-19, but the district office opening sales channels is a great help," and set the lunchbox price at an affordable 7,000 KRW, lower than the in-store price.
All these businesses are Zero Pay affiliates and accept payment through the "Seodaemun Love Gift Certificate," which offers a 15% discount rate.
The district plans to consider extending the "Love Lunchbox Event to Revive Local Businesses" depending on the COVID-19 situation.
The Seodaemun-gu Office cafeteria, which was used by employees and visitors, is currently closed as part of social distancing measures, and the positive response to the lunchboxes suggests steady demand from employees.
