Daegu 'COVID-19' Emergency Living Expenses, Applications Accepted from April 3

Daegu 'COVID-19' Emergency Living Expenses, Applications Accepted from April 3 Daegu City Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Lee Seung-ho Briefing.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Daegu City will accept applications for emergency living expenses to overcome the damage caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) for one month starting from the 3rd of next month. The emergency living expenses are not distributed on a first-come, first-served basis; if selected as a beneficiary, everyone will receive the payment regardless of the order of application.

According to Daegu City on the 30th, online applications will be accepted from April 3 through the city’s emergency living expenses application system.

Applications can be accessed via banners or popup links on the websites of the city and the eight district and county offices. Additionally, from the 6th, applicants can visit Daegu Bank and NongHyup (from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM), post offices, and administrative welfare centers (from 9 AM to 6 PM) in person to apply.

The emergency living expenses will be supported differentially: 500,000 KRW for a single-person household, 600,000 KRW for a two-person household, 700,000 KRW for a three-person household, 800,000 KRW for a four-person household, and 900,000 KRW for households with five or more members.

The support targets are households registered in Daegu whose health insurance premium payments are at or below 100% of the median income (the income of the household exactly in the middle when all domestic households are lined up in order of income).

Households exceeding 100% of the median income, basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, emergency welfare support and unemployment benefit recipients, and households with members hospitalized or quarantined for more than two weeks due to COVID-19 are excluded from the support.

The support funds can be received as a fixed-amount prepaid card up to 500,000 KRW between April 10 and May 9. Amounts exceeding 500,000 KRW will be provided as Onnuri gift certificates. They can be collected by visiting each administrative welfare center or via registered mail.

For households excluded from the support target, objections can be filed from April 10 to May 19 through the application system, call centers, and the 120 Dalgubeol call center.

Lee Seung-ho, Deputy Mayor of Economy of Daegu City, said, "This emergency living expenses support aims to protect the lives of ordinary citizens struggling due to COVID-19 and to revive the collapsing local economy, ultimately safeguarding our Daegu community." He added, "The city will do its best to minimize inconvenience to citizens, ensure that the funds are provided to those who truly need them, and maximize the ripple effect."
