In the Busan Seo-Dong-gu primary, former Busan Ilbo President Ahn Byung-gil won against former Seoul Central District Prosecutor Kwak Kyu-taek after a runoff.
Former Prosecutor Yoo is the older brother of Yoo Oh-sung, the lead actor in the movie "Friend," and former Deputy Chief Prosecutor Kwak is the younger brother of director Kwak Kyung-taek, who directed "Friend."
The United Party's local constituency nomination management committee held a meeting at the National Assembly on the 20th and notified the candidates of the primary results in seven constituencies across Busan, Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Gangwon, including these individuals.
In the Gyeongnam Changwon Jinhae candidate primary, former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Dal-gon secured 53%, defeating former Changwon City Council Chairman Yoo Won-seok to win the ticket to the main election. Former Minister Lee entered the 18th National Assembly as a proportional representative of the United Party's predecessor, the Grand National Party, and served as Minister of the Interior and Safety during the Lee Myung-bak administration.
In Gyeongnam Sacheon-Namhae-Hadong, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Ha Young-je won with 51.6%, defeating former Blue House Press Secretary Choi Sang-hwa (48.4%).
In Busan Saha-eul, Kim Cheok-su, the candidate for Saha-gap in the 20th general election, defeated former Saha-gap Party Committee Chair Kim So-jung to advance to the main election.
In Gyeongbuk Gunwi-Uiseong-Cheongsong-Yeongdeok, former lawmaker Kim Hee-guk, from the New Conservative Party, won with 65.3%, surpassing former Blue House Public Relations Planning Secretary Cheon Young-sik, who received 41.7% (including a 7% rookie bonus).
In the three-way primary held in Gyeongbuk Yeongju-Yeongyang-Bonghwa-Uljin, former Daegu High Prosecutors' Office Deputy Chief Prosecutor Park Hyung-soo won with 56.7% (including a 4% rookie bonus).
With the announcement of these primary results, only two United Party local constituency primaries remain: Incheon Yeonsu-eul (Min Kyung-wook vs. former lawmaker Min Hyun-joo) and Daegu Dalseo-gap (former lawmaker Lee Du-a vs. former Daegu City Economic Bureau Chief Hong Seok-jun). These two constituencies were initially single-candidate recommendations for former lawmakers Min Hyun-joo and Lee Du-a, respectively, but were changed to primary contests after the party's Supreme Council requested reconsideration.
The primaries will be held from the 22nd to the 23rd and are scheduled to be announced on the 24th.
