Gwangyang Fire Station Achieves 2nd Place Nationwide in 'Fire Safety Instructor Competition'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Gwangyang Fire Station achieved the remarkable feat of winning the Excellence Award and securing 2nd place nationwide in the ‘Fire Safety Instructor Competition.’

According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) on the 20th, at the ‘6th Republic of Korea Fire Safety Instructor Competition’ held at the National Fire Agency the previous day, Fire Chief Jang Jiseon of Gwangyang Fire Station represented Jeonnam among 19 cities and provinces and won the Excellence Award.

Fire Chief Jang Jiseon received the Grand Prize at the ‘6th Jeonnam Fire Safety Instructor Competition’ on December 17 last year and participated as Jeonnam’s representative in the national competition.

In this competition, various fire safety lectures targeting the elderly and women were delivered, and skills were tested through a pre-review of lesson plans and a main competition where lectures were given within a 15-minute time limit.

Chief Jang gave a lecture titled ‘Preventing Elderly Falls, Our Safe Home! Staying Warm in Winter,’ explaining the causes and types of fall accidents that elderly people may experience at home, along with easy and engaging prevention methods.

In particular, he used various props such as Hwatu (Korean playing cards) and Yeonyanggaeng (sweet jelly snacks) that elderly people might be interested in, and shared personal experiences as a paramedic, delivering a customized lecture that received high praise.

Chief Jang said, “As a fire safety instructor, I will continue to strive to prevent safety accidents for the residents and work harder to establish a proper fire safety culture.”

Ma Jaeyoon, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, stated, “Jeonnam has already entered a super-aged society, exposing elderly people to safety accident risks. We will strengthen fire safety education through outreach programs to help elderly people create a safer Jeonnam.”
