Verify Identity via URL Access Without Visiting District Office
Check Seizure Information → Pay Fine → Apply for License Plate Return
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Starting from the 1st of next month, it will be possible to pay automobile-related fines and apply for the return of impounded license plates via smartphone.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 22nd that it has completed the related system construction and is operating the 'Simple Civil Service for Automobile License Plate Impoundment' website.
License plate impoundment is a system where license plates are removed and stored for vehicles that have unpaid automobile-related fines totaling 300,000 KRW or more for over 60 days in the respective district, vehicles without mandatory automobile insurance, or vehicles that have not undergone automobile inspection or examination.
Through this service, users can access the website via the QR code on the receipt attached to the vehicle or the URL sent to the vehicle owner's phone via a problem message, then complete identity verification, check outstanding fines, pay the fines, and request the return of the license plate.
It is also possible to check the status of unpaid fines and local taxes anytime through identity verification on the website.
