[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 21st that it will promote the ‘Seedling Box Treatment Agent (Pesticide) Support’ project targeting general rice cultivation farms (excluding eco-friendly cultivation complexes).
The county will invest 350 million KRW in the project to support seedling box treatment agents to reduce labor and management cost burdens on farms struggling due to aging farmers and to stabilize income.
The seedling box treatment agent is easy to use and controls early rice crop pests and diseases such as rice blast, rice water weevil, and bacterial leaf blight with a single application.
Simply spraying the seedling box treatment agent on the seedling trays right before transplanting provides significant pest and disease control effects without much effort.
This can reduce the number of pest and disease control treatments and costs during the rice cultivation period, and the price of the treatment agent varies depending on the target pests and diseases.
Applications for support can be submitted to the local eup/myeon administrative welfare center through the village head by the 14th of next month. In March, farmers will receive exchange vouchers individually and can exchange the treatment agents at pesticide sales stores in the county in April for use.
An official from the Agricultural Technology Center said, “We ask all farms to apply for the treatment agent support project, which not only effectively controls pests and diseases but also reduces labor and management costs.”
