[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] A girl in India has grown her hair to 190 cm, earning a place in the Guinness World Records.

According to local Indian media and AFP on the 20th (local time), Nilansi Patel (17), who lives in Modasa, Gujarat, India, set a new record for the 'Longest Hair - Teenage Category' by growing her hair to 190 cm on September 22 last year.

Known as the "Living Rapunzel," Patel previously set the Guinness record in this category with 155.5 cm of hair on November 21, 2018. Since then, she has continued to grow her hair without cutting it, surpassing her own record last year.

Patel said, "I cut my hair when I was six years old, but it was really a mess. Since then, I haven't cut it and have kept growing it." She added, "It takes at least 30 minutes to dry my hair and about an hour to comb it, so it takes around two hours. I wash my hair about once a week."

She also mentioned, "My parents help me enough to maintain my long hair and enjoy it."

Patel said, "When people rush over to take selfies with me, I feel like a celebrity. I also feel proud to be a pride of India."

It is reported that Patel usually braids or ties up her long hair and does not leave it down as it is.
