The 'Seongbuk-gu Reading Club Revitalization Project' Continuing for 4 Years Since Its First Implementation in 2016... Applications Accepted for 5 Days from February 7 to 11, Total of 26 Teams Selected
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) is accepting applications for the '2020 Seongbuk-gu Reading Club Support Project' from February 7 to 11 for reading clubs active in the area.
Since 2016, the district has selected new and outstanding reading clubs annually through a public contest for the reading club support project, providing a total of 58 million KRW in activity funds to 91 reading clubs over the past four years.
Every year, reading clubs composed of various generations receive activity funds and actively participate in Seongbuk-gu's reading culture projects, establishing a community foundation for local residents based on a culture of discussion.
The target for this contest project is reading clubs with five or more members active in public libraries, small libraries, schools, workplaces, etc., and they must be registered at one of the 14 Seongbuk-gu public libraries.
Selection is made through a comprehensive evaluation based on the feasibility and expected effects of the project plan, as well as the contribution to the local community, according to the club's operation plan. The announcement is scheduled for the end of March.
Selected reading clubs will be active for eight months from April to November and will receive financial support necessary for the operation and activities of the reading clubs, such as 'book purchase costs, instructor fees, promotion costs, and field trip experience costs.' A total of 26 teams will be selected, with 13 outstanding reading clubs receiving activity funds of 700,000 to 1,000,000 KRW, and 13 new reading clubs receiving 500,000 KRW.
Applications can be submitted via email (msh218@sb.go.kr).
