Director Yoon Joo-hyun "Join Forces to Demonstrate Collective Intelligence"... Design New Year's Gathering

Yoon Joo-hyun, President of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, is speaking about efforts to demonstrate collective intelligence in the design industry at the New Year's meeting held on the 9th at the Korea Design Center in Bundang, Gyeonggi.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Korea Institute of Design Promotion announced on the 10th that it held the '2020 Design Industry New Year Meeting' for industry harmony and communication in collaboration with the Korea Federation of Design Organizations.

The event took place the previous day at the Korea Design Center in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province, with over 200 design industry figures in attendance. It highlighted the role of design and presented the future vision of the design industry.

In particular, the Institute of Design Promotion held a business briefing session to commemorate its 50th anniversary. It plans to promote various projects to strengthen design-led innovation capabilities and to enable design utilization across the entire industry.

First, the 'Overseas Internship Support Project' will be implemented. It supports sending design major graduates and unemployed individuals as interns to overseas design specialist companies and design-utilizing enterprises. Additionally, two more Design-Led Product Development Support Centers will be established this year.

Furthermore, the 'Design-Led Social Enterprise Innovation Capability Enhancement Project' will be carried out. Through design, it aims to create demand-centered social economy services and business models, strengthen the innovation capabilities of social enterprises, and build an ecosystem capable of sustainable growth.

Yoon Juhyun, President of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, said, "In 2020, I hope the design industry will unite to demonstrate collective intelligence and make it a 'wise year remembered by design.' We will strive for the pride that the design industry and designers should have, job creation, and talent development."
