Upholding Civil Servants' Duty of Political Neutrality
Fostering a Fair and Transparent Election Environment
Changnyeong County in South Gyeongsang Province held a training session on the duty of election neutrality for civil servants, targeting approximately 150 staff members at the main conference room of the county office in preparation for the 9th nationwide local elections.
The training, which took place on March 3, was organized to ensure that civil servants uphold their obligation of political neutrality and to foster a fair and transparent election environment, with roughly 90 days remaining before the 9th nationwide local elections scheduled for June 3, 2026.
On this day, Jinseon Lee, head of the administrative office at the Changnyeong County Election Commission, led the session as an instructor. The training began with an explanation of the civil servants' duty to remain neutral during elections, and included guidance on prohibited election-related activities and the sharing of relevant case studies to enhance employees' understanding.
An official from Changnyeong County stated, "With the upcoming local elections, we will do our utmost not only to ensure civil servants comply with their obligation of political neutrality but also to enhance public trust in administration by carrying out fair and transparent election operations."
