The Gyeonggi-do Job Foundation is recruiting new companies to participate in its '4.5-Day Workweek Pilot Project' until the 27th.
The 4.5-day workweek pilot project is a policy designed to ease the on-site burden caused by reduced working hours and to support the stable establishment of the system. Under the program, companies may voluntarily shorten working hours through labor-management agreements, while maintaining wages without any reduction.
The purpose of the project is to improve the quality of life for workers and to lay the foundation for sustainable growth for companies. The foundation plans to drive changes that can be felt by both companies and workers through tailored support on-site. Currently, 97 companies and one public institution in the province, selected last year, are participating.
The Job Foundation provides wage compensation incentives of up to 270,000 won per worker per month (based on a reduction of 5 hours per week) to the selected companies.
Each company can receive customized consulting and attendance management programs to help establish reduced working hours, up to a maximum support amount of 15 million won per company. Through this, the foundation aims to enhance company productivity and improve organizational culture.
Notably, this year a new hiring incentive has been introduced. This support system is designed to ease workforce gaps that may arise during the process of reducing working hours and to encourage job creation. Companies hiring new employees can receive 800,000 won per new hire per month for up to six months.
Eligible companies for the pilot project are small and medium-sized enterprises with fewer than 300 regular employees located within the province. Companies wishing to participate can apply online through the Jobaba Apply website (apply.jobaba.net).
