On the final day, attends Korea-Philippines Business Forum and meeting with overseas Koreans
Expanding economic cooperation with key ASEAN countries
President Lee Jaemyung will return to Korea on March 4 after completing his official visit to Manila, Philippines.
On the morning of that day, President Lee plans to visit the Philippines’ national cemetery, the “Heroes Cemetery,” to lay a wreath at the Korean War memorial and meet with surviving veterans and their descendants.
Afterwards, President Lee will attend the Korea-Philippines Business Forum to encourage entrepreneurs from both countries, followed by a luncheon meeting with Korean nationals living in the Philippines.
Concluding the meeting with overseas Koreans, President Lee will wrap up his four-day, three-night state visits to Singapore and the Philippines. He is scheduled to depart from the Philippines in the afternoon and return to Korea late in the day.
During this tour, President Lee further strengthened Korea’s relationship of trust with ASEAN-the Association of Southeast Asian Nations-by holding summits with the leaders of Singapore and the Philippines, both core ASEAN countries. In particular, memoranda of understanding (MOUs) were signed in advanced technology fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), nuclear power, shipbuilding, and defense. Korea and Singapore also agreed to begin negotiations to upgrade their free trade agreement (FTA).
Additionally, at the summits with Singapore and the Philippines, President Lee shared views on the increasingly unstable international situation and reached a consensus on the need for joint efforts to overcome these challenges.
