Gyeonggi Institute of Health and Environment to Conduct Odor Survey in Nueup-dong, Osan from March

The Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment will conduct a field survey from March to November to establish measures to reduce odors and improve workplace management in the general industrial area of Nueup-dong, Osan-si.

The general industrial area in Nueup-dong has been designated as an odor control area since 2011, and has been subject to regular monitoring every year.

This year, the Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment will carry out surveys at a total of 28 locations, including 10 air quality monitoring points and 18 business sites.

The survey will cover a total of 23 items, including complex odors and 22 designated odor-causing substances such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide, and each location will be monitored at least three times at different times of day, including early morning, daytime, and nighttime.

The Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment plans to share the survey results with Osan City to encourage facility improvements at odor-emitting workplaces and to use the data as a basis for establishing efficient odor management policies.

Jeong Eunhee, Head of the Living Environment Research Department at the Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment, said, "Through systematic and scientific field surveys, we will clearly identify the causes of odors in the Nueup-dong area and do our best to create a pleasant atmospheric environment where residents can breathe with peace of mind."
