Kyungbok University Holds "2026 Academic Year Entrance Ceremony" on the 25th...2,505 New Students Embark on a New Journey

On the 25th, Kyungbok University held the "2026 Academic Year Entrance Ceremony" and welcomed 2,505 new students.


The entrance ceremony began with the national pledge, followed by the proclamation of the Kyungbok Spirit, an academic report by Academic Affairs Director Kim Jeongsu, a reading of the founding philosophy of Founder Udang (愚堂) Dr. Jeon Jaeuk, the president's declaration of admission approval and welcome address, a response speech by a representative of the new students, the awarding of scholarship certificates, a congratulatory performance, the singing of the school song, and an Initiation Ceremony in which all new students participated together with the president and faculty members.


The reading of Founder Udang Dr. Jeon Jaeuk's founding philosophy was delivered on his behalf by Admissions and Public Relations Director Song Yoonshin.


Dr. Jeon Jaeuk presented as Kyungbok University's founding philosophy: the realization of the ideal of Hongik Ingan (弘益人間, "to broadly benefit humankind"), the practice of the spirit of Chung-Hyo-In-Gyeong (忠孝仁敬, loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, and respect), the establishment of an attitude of Jagang-Bulsik (自强不息, unceasing self-improvement), and the fulfillment of one's mission as a person of calling.

On this day, Kyungbok University President Jeon Jiyong delivered a welcome message to the new students along with the declaration approving their admission.


President Jeon stated, "We stand in an era of great transformation in which AI technology is rapidly expanding into areas of human work," and emphasized, "However, what is more important than ever are human values, critical thinking, and an attitude of self-discipline."


He then presented three competencies needed in the AI era: an attitude of critically verifying AI-generated results; convergent learning that transcends the boundaries of one's major; and the power to think and reflect continuously.


Meanwhile, during the Initiation Ceremony, which was the final part of the event, all new students shook hands with the president and faculty members, sharing a meaningful moment as they exchanged their first greetings as members of the Kyungbok family.
