Gyeonggi-do Association of Mayors and County Heads Submits 17 Requests to Central Government

The Gyeonggi-do Association of Mayors and County Heads (Chairman Joo Gwangdeok, Mayor of Namyangju) announced that it held the 10th regular meeting of the 8th-term administration at the Gimpo Media Art Center on the 25th and discussed cooperation measures to resolve shared pending issues of cities and counties within the province.

At the meeting, heads and deputy heads from 28 cities and counties in Gyeonggi-do attended to share the current status of the secretariat’s operations and to conduct in-depth discussions on key agenda items that require joint responses across regions.

A total of 32 agenda items were submitted at this meeting, including 15 proposals from Gyeonggi-do and 17 requests to the central government. The main items focused on core issues directly affecting residents’ daily lives, including measures to ease the fiscal burden on cities and counties, expansion of transportation infrastructure, and improvement of welfare policies.

In his greeting, Chairman Joo Gwangdeok said, "Since the launch of the 8th-term administration, the 31 cities and counties have worked to raise a united voice based on mutual growth and cooperative governance," and emphasized, "I hope the association will continue to serve as a strong pillar of local autonomy in the future."

The association plans to formally submit the resolutions adopted on this day to Gyeonggi-do and the central government. It also intends to continue strengthening a close cooperation system among cities and counties and to make every effort to resolve common regional challenges.
