Yeongam-gun in Jeollanam-do has been selected as an excellent institution, the highest grade, in the "2025 Local Government Innovation Evaluation" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. By being named an excellent local government for three consecutive years, it has continued to achieve results in innovative administration.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety's innovation evaluation consists of three categories and ten detailed indicators: innovation capacity, innovation performance, and autonomous indicators. It comprehensively evaluates the head of the institution's innovation leadership, efforts to participate in innovation activities and spread their outcomes, and representative innovation projects, and reflects the assessments of an expert evaluation panel and a public perception survey.

This year's evaluation placed emphasis on policy outcomes that people can feel in their daily lives, such as strengthening communication and cooperation, and innovation through artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies.

The county was recognized for major innovation achievements such as operating the Yeongam-style local currency "Wolchul Pay," expanding various communication channels with residents, strengthening customized care services, and implementing talent cultivation policies focused on AI and digital technologies.

Woo Seunghee, Mayor of Yeongam-gun, said, "Being selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years is an achievement created jointly by county residents and public officials," adding, "We will further strengthen policy design and implementation so that residents can feel change in their daily lives."
