Park Ilwoong, Director of the Seoul Government Complex Management Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, took office on the 25th as the 39th Executive Vice Governor of Gyeongsangnam-do.
The new Executive Vice Governor Park, who is from Masan in Changwon, graduated from Masan Changshin High School and the Department of Public Administration at Sungkyunkwan University, and entered public service after passing the 38th Higher Civil Service Examination in 1995.
Since then, he has served as Policy Planning Officer and Director General for Planning and Coordination of Gyeongsangnam-do, as well as Director for Safety Communication and Director General for Safety Policy at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
Gyeongsangnam-do stated that Vice Governor Park is regarded as an expert in disaster management, having a high level of understanding of overall provincial administration and having overseen the strengthening of the national crisis management system and disaster response policies.
Through this, the province expects to respond preemptively to crises such as disasters and calamities, and to lead Gyeongsangnam-do into an era of hope and happiness for its residents.
On this day, Vice Governor Park began his official duties immediately without a separate inauguration ceremony, starting with a visit to the Memorial Tower for the Fallen.
He said, "The starting point of local administration is trust with the residents," adding, "Together with all the staff, I will swiftly push ahead with the core tasks of provincial administration and focus our capabilities so that we can honor our promises to the residents with tangible results."
